SCHUFA-Auskunft

SCHUFA is Germany's best-known credit agency. Businesses use credit information when assessing applications and contracts.

What is it?

A SCHUFA report can contain information about payment behaviour and active credit relationships. Landlords, banks and some service providers may ask for proof of creditworthiness, but a report is only one part of an application.

Why it matters

Check unfamiliar entries and avoid paying for a product you do not need when a free data copy is available under data-protection rules.

Practical example: A landlord may ask for a recent SCHUFA record together with proof of income and your identity documents.
